Basic Human Drive
I think the basic human drive is “to be better.”
Various people interperet this in various ways. For some, it’s to be better than your neighbors/peers via whatever means neccessary. For some, it’s spiritual enlightenment. For others, it’s having something others don’t, like an ability or an expensive item. Even others, it may be asserting your superiority upon others by force. Or maybe it’s to bring the human race up with them as much as possible. There are an infinite number of these interperetations.
All those interperetations of why we do what we do boil down to “being better,” in either a “full” (according to our society) or “broken” way. In my opinion, these are all valid ways to be better. Even the some of the seemingly “bad” ways to be better sometimes turn out good—someone trying to be a good role-model by doing whatever they think better should be, for instance.
In my opinion the best is to better yourself and to help others do the same. Anything that you may achieve during the process is a side-effect. That is my interperetation and my goal in life.
